Otoplasty before and after: protruding ears, 24-year-old woman

Otoplasty - Case # MSG24

A 24-year-old patient who wanted her ears closer to her head. I performed an otoplasty under local anaesthesia in 45 minutes: a small incision behind each ear to sculpt the cartilage and fold it back, held in place with internal stitches. She was back to her routine within a week. The photos were taken at 3 months; the scar sits hidden in the crease behind the ear and is not visible in the back view. More about this surgery on the otoplasty page.

- Children´s ears are most often fully developed until the age of 4 so Otoplasty is mostly performed between the age of 4 and 14 to avoid psychological trauma. However, Otoplasty can also be performed in adults.
