Difference between Ultrasonic and Conventional Rhinoplasty

But what´s the main difference between Ultrasonic and Conventional Rhinoplasty? Conventional Rhinoplasty uses hammers and chisels to change the nose shape according to patient’s desire. Although this technique also delivers excellent results, it causes mechanical trauma which is associated with considerable swelling, bruising and bleeding. Ultrasonic Rhinoplasty allows a very accurate nose reshaping without affecting soft tissues. This technique involves a crystal that vibrates at an ultra-high frequency and is very gentle. Piezotome® sculpts the bone and cartilage in a very accurate way and when it touches soft tissues it only vibrates (does not cut) which means there is less damage and trauma. For this reason, swelling and bruising is minimal compared to hammers and chisels that cause significant damage to soft tissues.

Can Ultrasonic Rhinoplasty be performed in any type of nose?
Ultrasonic Rhinoplasty can be performed in any type of nose specially where hump reduction is desired. Ultrasonic Rhinoplasty is not indicated for tip reduction only as this does not involve bone and cartilage reshaping. In this case, conventional rhinoplasty is the best technique.
