The BRA DAY or Breast Reconstruction Awareness Day is an international day celebrated during the month of October to raise awareness for breast cancer and the challenges that women with breast cancer face. This year, BRA DAY was celebrated on the 13th<\/sup> of October.<\/p>\n

Breast cancer has received great attention and new therapy options such as oncoplasty are now available. Therapy is of utmost importance to cure and increase life expectancy.\u00a0 On the other hand, reconstruction surgery will rebuild the shape and look of the breast after a total or partial mastectomy. \u00a0In modern approach reconstruction is done immediately after mastectomy. This means that the breast cancer surgeon remove breast and plastic surgeon reconstructs breast immediately after that. Immediate breast reconstruction helps women cope more easily with their feelings about the loss of a breast.<\/p>\n

Breast reconstruction is not a mandatory surgery. However, every woman must have the right and option of going under this type of surgery with the best support from the medical team. On the BRA day and during the month of October, medical professionals bring awareness and support to more and more women and contribute their time, skills and expertise.<\/p>\n
