Liposuction or liposculpture is a surgical operation, which allows the removal of localized excess of fat in various regions of the body eg. the chin, neck, arms, abdomen, hips (love handles), buttocks, inner and outer thighs, knees, calves, ankles, etc.<\/p>\n

We talk about liposculpture when we want to perform a wide reshaping of the body and\/or we perform lipofilling using the suctioned fat.<\/p>\n

After years of evolution and developing of the technique, we can say now that liposuction is a relatively safe, simple operation with quick recovery that can be used to shape the figures of both men and women. Laboratory examinations are always carried out prior to the operation to exclude any contra-indications.<\/p>\n

Liposuction does not substitute a serious diet that aims to weight loss but can follow it once the target weight is reached. A good skin elasticity is of paramount importance to predict good skin retraction and reshaping after surgery.<\/p>\n

Liposuction procedure<\/h2>\n

Before entering in the operating room, you will discuss with your surgeon where and how much fat is to be removed; the surgeon will mark these areas on your body as a guide.<\/p>\n

The procedure is performed under deep local or general anesthesia depending on the volumes to be removed and\/or if liposuction is coupled with other procedures.<\/p>\n

During liposculpture, the fat is removed using very fine cannulas through tiny incisions made in the folds\/creases of the skin so that there is no visible scarring.<\/p>\n

Liposuction recovery<\/h2>\n

Oedema (swelling) and some bruising appear in the regions where the operation is carried out, but this will subside within ten days. A compression dressing is applied and needs to be worn continuously for 4 weeks to speed up recuperation and to reduce the risk of complications. Anyone who is in good physical health can be a candidate for liposculpture. Given that the recovery process is simple and not particularly painful, these operations generally require patients to stay in the clinic between 4 and 24 hours depending on the amount of suctioned fat.<\/p>\n
